Charting the Future
AACC is an organization that is always championing knowledge and innovation, public understanding, and collaboration around the field of laboratory medicine. They represent more than 50,000 clinical laboratory professionals, physicians, research scientists, and business leaders from around the world focused on clinical chemistry, molecular diagnostics, mass spectrometry, translational medicine, lab management, and other areas of progressing laboratory science.
Increasing Understanding
One of AACC’s key services, Lab Tests Online (LTO), is a tool that is designed to help patients and caregivers understand the many lab tests that are a vital part of medical care. Prior to engaging Unleashed, the LTO websites had content and user interface (UI) elements that had been translated into 14 different languages and used three different CMS platforms. The visual design, content structure, translation interface, SEO tools, and overall content management for these sites became dated. AACC sought a web development partner to refresh these aspects and create a better online experience for visitors and administrators.
Empowering Patients and Professionals
The work with ACCC resulted in nine new global websites for Lab Tests Online (US, Brazil, China, Korea, Spain, Hungary, Italy, Turkey, and United Kingdom)—built on the Drupal platform and featuring multi-lingual capabilities.
This ultimately granted Lab Tests Online increased scalability and access to the collected knowledge base of the Drupal community. Some of the website features were:
- Migration to Drupal CMS: Content was migrated from legacy platforms—Silverstripe, a PHP/MySQL CMS, and Engitel, a .NET/MSSQL CMS—over to the Drupal CMS.
- Improved User Experience: Unleashed was able to identify that page layouts, navigation, and site search could be altered for the new website, which can allow users to quickly find content and have a more pleasing experience
- Responsive Design: The upgraded LTO website design is fully responsive, regardless of device type. Visitors are ensured to have a seamless digital experience that is usable on mobile, tablet, and full desktop screen sizes.
- Search Integration: Unleashed utilized Drupal’s Search API—along with Apache Solr (a search index application) and Apache Tika (a document parser and indexer)—to provide a highly performant search interface for each LTO website.
