Background

Our client, the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA) was looking to increase revenue through Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits and certification courses offered on their website. A secondary goal of this initiative was to increase new member sign-ups, current member renewals, and increase brand awareness within their geographical territory.

Challenge

With the decline in economic performance suffered throughout the industry when all in-person conferences and training were moved online in early 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, other ways of increasing revenue were needed.

Strategy

To accomplish this, we recommended the VSCPA use Google Pay-per-click (PPC) advertising. Allowing them to quickly get their marketing message in front of their targeted audience.

In total, we created five Google Ad Campaigns to assist our client in achieving their goal. Three campaigns using the Google search network and two campaigns using display advertising for targeted remarketing.

To ensure we were providing the best ROI possible each ad campaign was built with:

  • Multiple Ad variations were monitored, A/B tested, and optimized to drive increased click-through-rates (CTR).
  • Strict Ad schedules were created allowing us to target the most optimal days and times to serve Ads.
  • Appropriate Ad extensions were implemented to provide additional information, increase on-page real estate, and click-through-rates (CTR).
  • Negative Keyword list created to limit search query results to unwanted audiences. While our team actively monitored and removed unwanted search terms as the campaign matured.
  • Ads directed interested parties to conversion-focused landing pages.
  • Custom remarketing audiences built to target visitors who viewed specific pages and cart abandonments.

 

The Results

Within months our newly created campaigns and account management strategies were able to convert at an overall 15.13-percent rate. With the association's CPE & Certificate Campaign converting 49.24 percent of all ad clicks. Our team has been able to provide an amazing 1,451% ROI overall for our client.
