BookDivas.com is a website dedicated to providing premium resources to female authors across the world. Book Divas provides exclusive access to women for educational and informative resources such as author interviews, book reviews, community, social media, membership, and regular contests.
Challenge:
BookDivas.com is one of the top competing web communities for young female adult readers. As the community continued to grow it was quickly realized that the amount of information and the structural layout of the site could no longer hold the raw amount of information provided. Further challenges also existed in the ability for the bookdivas.com administrative team to make core changes to their website in a fast and effective manner utilizing an older content management system (CMS) not targeted towards their community or online requirement. Change was necessary to allow for:
- Dynamic Author Interviews for New Publications
- Support for Streaming Video
- Book Reviews
- E-Commerce
- Social Media Integration and Blogging
- Strong Community Interaction
- Robust Site Controls for Administrators
As a final concern, bookdivas.com had an unreliable hosting vendor with poor up times and data back-ups. Both up times and data back-ups violated their service level agreement.
Solution:
Unleashed Technologies worked together with the executive team of Book Divas Entertainment to create a reliable and very robust website that would address the following major hang-ups that was stopping bookdivas.com from growing their internet presence. First and foremost Unleashed Technologies proposed a solution that would:
- Replace the current content management system with Drupal, an open and scalable solution for robust tools and continual expansion.
- Create a series of new designs that would help BookDivas.com better captivate its youthful audience and provide intuitive access to large information sets.
- Build dynamic taxonomy and search criteria that would tie related items together and help the member community target their interests on an individual level.
- Commenting and Rating capabilities for social engagement along with membership profiles.
- Reduce complexities on the registration process for more conversions.
- Provide reliable virtual environments that were under full control of the client along with automated back-ups and a multi-honed environment to ensure maximum availability.
Future goals included the expansion of the web presence into different Diva sites so that the Diva Entertainment staff could provide focused websites on particular interests. By selecting Drupal, BookDivas.com would be able to meet this demand head on utilizing advanced micro-siting capabilities.
Results:
The results of the project were fantastic and today BookDivas.com enjoys an increased level of traffic and a community wide supported portal placing them ahead of their competitors in offering targeted resources for young female adult readers/authors. Unleashed Technologies provided a fast and responsive server platform to erase issues with the previous hosting provider, a web compliant website with advanced SEO options providing a better organic web rank, a beautiful new design tailored to the targeted audience, an easy to use website, and a strong administrative back end that put the staff in the drivers seat reducing expensive web based consulting costs that were better handled internally.
When the project was fully implemented BookDivas.com gained:
- Reduced management for internal staff and a significant decrease in change costs with web partners.
