Chameleon IS Website Design

Blog Header ImageI was recently tasked with providing a fresh new design for one of our long standing clients, Chameleon Integrated Services. Upon review of the pre-existing site I noticed a very creative and playful design. This was a surprise to me considering they cater to government projects. For most businesses with this background we usually tend to see very clean and simple designs. As a designer this made me very interested in this particular project, as this was an opportunity to deliver a fresh new look with a creative edge.

The Challenge

The client was looking for a design that presented a clean, edgy, modern, and creative look, something that brought them “up-to-date”, but also kept their outgoing presence. They were very flexible and informative when I reviewed the web design analysis form with them. I was able to start the project with a clear understanding of their needs for this project.

The Design

After defining my regions and surface area percentages for the priority content of the high impact landing page, I began experimenting with textures and colors as well as researched many images from landscapes of our nation’s capital to an assortment of chameleon pictures and graphics. I decided to use high resolution images of beautiful chameleons throughout the banners. I had toyed with the idea of using some playful graphics, but in the end I felt the realistic images provided the edge I was looking for. It brought out more of the sophistication of ChameleonIS, which I thought was necessary for this new design. Based on the concept of design fusion, I came up with a theme utilizing relative colors and textures to that of the panther chameleon. I then applied those base elements to the layout and merged them with clean sleek buttons, and light/clean shapes with “console-like” regions and menus. I applied vibrant colors to the headings and accents, as well as created some colorful graphics to compliment the core offerings on the front page. Overall I kept the content very clean and easily presentable while keeping the frame and trim experimental in nature.

Mission Accomplished!

The end result of the design made the client and our team very happy. I applied the new theme to the brand new Drupal framework put together by our development team here at Unleashed Technologies. The new ChameleonIS website can be viewed online now @ http://www.chameleonis.com.

Enjoy!
